This page details all the application materials and admissions requirements for DigiPen (Singapore)’s Master of Science in Computer Science, a degree program focused on prominent topics of modern computing.

Academic Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for admission:

  • Completed a bachelor’s degree with a recommended 2.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA)

  • Coursework or work experience in all of the following:

    • Computer Science: data structures, algorithm design and analysis, computer architecture, principles of operating systems, and software engineering

    • Programming: experience programming in a high-level language

    • Mathematics: calculus, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics

  • In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience with some of the following:

    • Computer Science: computer networking, artificial intelligence, compiler theory, theory of computation, parallel/multi-threaded programming, computer graphics (e.g., a basic undergraduate course)

    • Programming: programming in C++, programming in a teamwork environment, video game programming

    • Mathematics: numerical analysis, graph theory, number theory, combinatorics, probability theory

Any academic transcripts and certificates issued in a language other than English must be submitted together with the original documents and an official, notarized English translation. Please do not have grades converted or interpreted in any way.

Proof of Proficiency in the English Language

Non-native English speakers must provide one of the following:

  • A minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80 for tests completed before 21 January 2026, or a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 4 for tests taken on or after 21 January 2026 (Code 4138).

  • IELTS Academic: 6.5

  • Duolingo English Test: 115

  • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE): C1 Advanced

The English proficiency requirement may be waived if the applicant has completed a bachelor’s degree at an English-medium institution.

General GRE (Optional)

Applicants can choose to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test and have their scores sent directly to DigiPen Institute of Technology Singapore by the testing agency. Applications will be evaluated once all required materials are submitted regardless of GRE scores.

Letters of Recommendation (Optional)

Applicants can submit two letters of recommendation with their application. These should be from individuals familiar with applicant’s academic background or work ethic, such as an instructor, school counsellor or employer. Family members’ recommendations would not be considered. The references should detail how long they have known the applicant and the relationship with the applicant in their letter.

Personal Statement (Mandatory)

Applicants should summarize their computer science academic and professional background, highlighting key projects and roles, particularly in team settings. They should also detail relevant experiences and achievements and provide explanations for any irregularities in their academic record.

Applicants should include links to project or portfolio samples such as a personal website or other online platform. These shared links must be publicly accessible.

The statement should be at least one page long. English spelling and grammar will be considered.

Resume (Mandatory)

A resume or CV (or link to an online CV/portfolio site) is mandatory, and should outline the applicant’s academic background, relevant experience, creative projects, and professional history.

Online Interview

Case-by-case basis, interview can be conducted online, and in English.
