The Bachelor of Arts in Digital Entertainment and Creative Technology (BA DECT) welcomes passionate and creative students who aspire to build a career in animation, digital media, and creative technology.

Academic Qualifications

Official transcripts and certificates of Secondary school and High School or equivalent must be submitted.

  • Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level

  • Local Polytechnics, NAFA, LASALLE Diploma

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma

  • NUSH School Diploma

  • China high school or equivalent

Any academic transcripts and certificates issued in a language other than English must be submitted together with the original documents and an official, notarized English translation. Please do not have grades converted or interpreted in any way.

Proof of Proficiency in the English Language

Non-native English speakers must provide one of the following:

  • A minimum TOEFL iBT score of 60 for tests completed before 21 January 2026, or a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 3.5 for tests taken on or after 21 January 2026 (Code 4138).

  • IELTS: 5

  • Duolingo English Test (DET): 90

  • Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): B2 Advanced

The English proficiency requirement may be waived if the applicant has completed a bachelor’s degree at an English-medium institution.

Portfolio Submission (Mandatory)

Applicants must submit 15–20 original works demonstrating both technical ability and creative expression.

The portfolio should include:

  • 1 piece of Observation Drawing — Any subject, full page, drawn from life (not photographs)

  • 4 pieces of 2D Drawings — Digital or traditional

  • 10–15 Creative Works — May include character designs, concept art, illustrations, storyboards, animations, 3D works, or mixed-media projects

Note: Applicants may include no more than 2 anime/manga-style pieces. Portfolios should demonstrate originality, creativity, and a clear artistic process. Portfolios should be uploaded to a cloud storage service or a personal website. Please ensure that all shared links are accessible to the public.

Personal Statement (Optional)

Applicants may submit a 300 to 500-word personal statement to share their motivation, creative interests, and learning goals. While optional, this statement provides an opportunity to demonstrate readiness for an English-medium, project-based program and to highlight relevant experiences or artistic inspirations.

Online Interview

Applicants who pass the portfolio stage will be invited for an online interview.

  • Purpose: To assess motivation, confidence, readiness, and suitability

  • Conducted by: Faculty members

  • Focus: Understanding applicants as individuals

The interview is not for re-evaluating portfolios and will be conducted in English.
